WHEN I WAS

When I was young, I loved playing dress up. It fed my imagination and brought me endless enjoyment.

I played with old clothes and mostly broken jewelry given to me by my Mom. I also had a neighborhood friend whose backyard was filled with flowers, shrubs, and brick paths leading to a garden shed with a trunk full of dress up clothes. We loved sorting through the trunk to curate the perfect outfit. We would sit at the old dressing table with its unhinged mirror putting on lipstick and earrings while adorning our necks with strands of beads, pearls and shiny baubles. Garden vines grew in-between the shed's wood slats transforming the shed into our very own imaginary world.

I continue to imagine and create through words, pictures, music, and movement. It seems natural to curate treasured vignettes as a way to explore the past, support sustainable living and honor talented workmanship. It makes sense to me to see the world around me in this way. I hope to offer you a glimpse of something new in something old.

Permission to reflect. Permission to dream.
